Applying mineral makeup can be easy if you simply know the steps. You can give yourself a natural glow in as little as 3 minutes a day!
* Always apply light layers, add gradually to ensure coverage.
* Multi-purposes your minerals - use blush for lips, use bronzer for eyeshadow...this reduces application time further.
* Always use a finishing spritz to complete your look and refresh through the day.
1. Moisturizing Base Prep: Always prepare your face for mineral makeup with a light moisturizing mineral prep cream or lotion. Adding a base will improve the acceptance of the minerals and will make the application of powders and foundations easier resulting in a smooth, healthy finish.
Some moisture prep creams can even calm and sooth the skin, blot away excess oil, and even out your skin tone.
2. Foundation: Take your Kabuki (short fat brush) and lightly swirl into your pressed base foundation color.
Apply foundation to your face by lightly burnishing the color all over your face and neck. You want to avoid only having color on your face and nothing on your neck. Nothing worse than when your neck is white and your face is tan!
Be sure to apply light layers, don't apply too heavy, you can add layers of color if you want more coverage, key is to keep your look very natural.
3. Concealing problem areas. I recommend a product called Crystal Fusion, which is an illuminating liquid crystal. It comes in container similar to a bottle of mascara, and is applied like lip gloss. My favorite trick is to place a small bit of the crystals on the inside lid of my foundation. Use your concealer brush to mix together with your lighter foundation color, this will create a creamy concealing cream.
Apply this combination any where you want to cover dark circles, small lines or cracks.
4. Bronzer: To add a sun-kissed healthy glow, use your brush blush to lightly apply your bronzer across your cheeks and nose. Adding bronzer around your hairline and under your chin can also be done to further contour your face and a healthy glow.
5. Eye Color: To quickly highlight your eyes, use your lightest eyeshadow and apply under your brow. Next take your medium shade and sweep across your eye lid and into your crease. Your darkest shades can be applied wet and used as eyeliner if you would like a more dramatic effect.
The old application method of putting darkest shades in your crease are no longer the norm for an all natural look, but can be added for an evening look if you prefer.
6.Mascara: Mascara can make or break your look. To maintain a natural everyday look simply apply a small amount of mascara on your upper lashes.
7.Finish your look with your finishing or setting spray. All mineral makeup last longer and sets more effectively when you use a neroli mist or oxygenating spray. PLUS, by keeping this spray in your purse, you can refresh your minerals throughout the day without the need to re-apply more.
Now, 3 minutes later, your natural face has been applied, time to share your new look with the world!
